C. Examination of the end item for visual defects. The sample unit for this examination shall be one pencil. A random sample shall be taken from each lot in accordance with Inspection Level S-3. The AQL shall be 2.5 percent defective. Samples shall be examined for defects listed below. Any pencil containing one or more defects shall be rejected.

D. Examination of the end item for dimensional defects. The sample unit for this examination shall be one pencil. A random sample shall be taken from each lot in accordance with Inspection

Level S-2. The AQL shall be 4.0 percent defective. Samples shall be examined for defects listed below. Any pencil containing one or more defects shall be rejected.

The examination for the characteristics listed in the following table will be based on the specifications/requirements listed in NOTES (see section (see VIII. B.) for the specific pencil being examined.

Measurements. Inspection Level S-2 with an AQL of 4.0 percent  defective, for each measurements. The sample unit shall be one pencil.

E. Tests. Sampling for performance testing shall be performed in accordance with MIL-STD-105. The inspection level shall be level S-2 with an AQL of 4.0 percent defective. The sample unit shall be one pencil.
